Route du Vin, Alsace

Route du Vin, Alsace 2Otherwise known as “El camino de Santiago” in Spanish, “Chemin de St. Jacques” in French and “the way of St.James” in English, this extremely well-known way or path is not exactly “one”. There are actually many different routes from many different countries, including France, Spain and Portugal, which all lead to the end destination; the shrine of St. James the Great (the apostle) which is to be found in the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela in Galicia, in the north west of Spain. The tradition says that the saint’s remains are buried there.

The path is popular with people from all over the world for many different reasons. Some people are led by a spiritual interest, others by culture or because they have set themselves a personal challenge and others see it as part of a great adventure.

If you choose to walk “The way of St.James”, france, you’ll surely come across quaint towns and villages, interesting monuments and beautiful scenery. Along the way you will have the opportunity to talk to many other international travellers and you’ll probably also attempt to reassess that work-life balance like many others. You’ll get to stop off, relax, eat and then sleep in one of the many guest houses or hotels available in absolute comfort…well after all that walking, you’ll need a good night’s sleep!

The route that we are concentrating on here, is the french route.
