Bavarian Mountains


This hiking vacation in the Bavarian mountains is a self-guided hike and also a guided hike graded a level 2. Zugspitze belongs to the best known summits of the Alps and can be quite easily climbed by cable car. View these beautiful mountains from different angles and explore beautiful hiking territory. Adventurous and sensational crossing of gorges, thundering waters leaving unforgettable impressions on all walkers looking to take away stunning memories form Germany. On both sides of Wetterstein Massif you find pretty places for tranquil nights.

This is a varied walking tour, requiring good basic stamina, so some form of fitness is required. You walk on well-kept hiking paths and partly on forest roads for a varied scenery. Any considerable changes in altitude are covered by transfers or cable car. Daily walking times of a maximum of 5 comfortable hours make for a walk that is easy enough and fun for anyone of all levels and ability. As far as possible each day also a more challenging option is offered, reaching into higher mountain territory for the more fit and adventurous walker.

Trips with easy day walks are interspersed with more strenuous sections. Four to five hours walking per day ( excluding breaks ) in hilly to mountainous areas using well kept but sometimes stoney paths.

Bavarian Eagles Nest


This walking holiday is in the wonderful region of Bavaria in south Germany around the great Lake Konigssee. High in the mountains over-looking the lake and famous peaks of the region is the Bavarian eagles nest, a tearoom built for Hitler’s 50th birthday and an important historical feature when looking back at WW2. Idyllic, mystic and singular, the blue-green lake Königssee is imbedded into grand mountain scenery. The mountains are very high, but there are beautiful passes to the next valleys. To see the sun rising over the steep rocks of the Stony Sea is really worth the effort, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that opportunity to see such beautiful scenery in such a historic spot.

This tour is available as a level 3 (which means that it is in some parts quite challenging) self- guided tour and also a guided based tour departing on selected dates. Independent tour available Fridays Saturdays and Sundays from 7th June to 22nd September. Whereas, guided tours available 23rd June, 14th July, 18th August, 1st September.

Day 1 – Individual arrival at Berchtesgaden/Schönau
Day 3 – Walking tour up to an alpine pasture in the Grass Mountains. Downwards to the mountain village of Dienten.
Day 4 – From hut to hut to the mountain hotel Arthurhaus
Day 5 Rest Day: These can also be referred to as Free days for you and your group to explore, at your own leisure everything the surrounding areas have to offer.
Day 6 – Arthurhaus – Mitterfeldalm hut – Werfen – Golling
Day 8 – Individual departure or extended stay on the lake Königssee

Germany has a lot of history and during this tour you will be able to sample some of it. See the fantastic fortress of “Hohenwerfen”, and carrying on through the week you will also make your way up to the peak of the Jenner with panoramic views of the whole tour. A beautiful trail through the Bluntau valley to the “wall” mixed with everything else this holiday has on offer gives the walker everything they need to enjoy the perfect hiking holiday, full of beautiful views.

River Rhine

This particular hiking vacation takes you beside the River Rhine in Germany and is a level 2-3 self-guided walking holiday. This walking holiday will explore the Rheinsteig, a way marked walking trial on the eastern bank of the river Rhine. In total the Rheinsteig is 320km long but your journey between Koblenz and Rüdesheim is on average per day 12 miles, 20km long.


You will see many castles hanging on cliff edges and amongst the forests, lovely little villages, medieval towns, giving you a sense that Germany is not all about cities and the hustle and bustle of city life but that it offers some amazing scenery, some of the world best. Vineyards and breath-taking views across the magnificent river will make all of the effort you make getting there really worth as you gaze at arguably Germanys most famous river. You will also pass directly the legendary Loreley rock, a visual site not to be missed and a spectacular addition to this already spectacular trip.

Walking through fields, forests and vineyards to the castle Gutenfels and into the Volkenbachtal valley are some of the examples of Germany’s offers; such sights and beautiful scenery for the walker it could be said are peerless anywhere else. In Assmannhausen you should use the possibility to get by the chair-lift so you can get high easily to the nature-reserve Niederwald. Near Loreley Rock there are many viewpoints of the rock formations and river valley. You will descend down to Wellmich before climbing again to castle Maus. There are many castles in Germany, this walking holiday pinpoints some just some of them, however the castles you do see along the way, are very much worth it.
