This walking holiday is in the wonderful region of Bavaria in south Germany around the great Lake Konigssee. High in the mountains over-looking the lake and famous peaks of the region is the Bavarian eagles nest, a tearoom built for Hitler’s 50th birthday and an important historical feature when looking back at WW2. Idyllic, mystic and singular, the blue-green lake Königssee is imbedded into grand mountain scenery. The mountains are very high, but there are beautiful passes to the next valleys. To see the sun rising over the steep rocks of the Stony Sea is really worth the effort, and you wouldn’t want to miss out on that opportunity to see such beautiful scenery in such a historic spot.

Walking through fields, forests and vineyards to the castle Gutenfels and into the Volkenbachtal valley are some of the examples of Germany’s offers; such sights and beautiful scenery for the walker it could be said are peerless anywhere else.
